Olive oil tasting with Japanese tourists

It was supposed to be a rainy day..but thankfully it turned out to be such a beautiful autumn day!

We had hosted 9 Japanese tourists at our masseria for farm tour and olive oil tasting lesson.

We were also very lucky to see olive harvest!

We explained them about our olive trees and varieties, how we harvest and how we press to get olive oil.

Back to masseria, we had 3 different kinds of olive oil we harvested this week, Coratina, Leccino and Cima di Melfi.

They were taking notes about varieties, aromas and differences between 3 olive oils.

They have questions about how to pair them with Japanese cuisines and we explained how it works with all 3 kinds of oil, and some pairing tips with seasonal vegetables and fruits.

One tourist told us that it was an eye-opening experience since olive oil that they can find in Japan is very mild and never felt this kind of spiciness in the month!

We are glad they enjoyed our session and hoping that they keep having a great time in Puglia!
